MARINE DIAMONDS

Bee Lavish is pleased to be working with Ocean Diamonds who are based in Cornwall.  A leading specialist in marine diamonds, the skilled divers they work with retrieve one of nature's most precious gifts from the seabed in between ferocious storms on the coast of South Africa.  This is the only place in the world that wild diamonds are found beneath the waves and are recovered by hand.  Each marine diamond is gifted a Certificate of Provenance by Ocean Diamonds, specifying the country of origin and the coastal area of retrieval.  As alluring natural treasures that carry a unique connection to the ocean, each diamonds origin is , deeply compelling and important to document, so that you can connect with whole story and wild beauty of your jewellery.

BEE-ING LAVISH

When it comes to jewellery or adornments being lavish doesn't have to cost the Earth.  Bee Lavish designs are individually created using high quality and carefully sourced materials.  Bee Lavish values the origins of luxurious natural materials and the longevity of carefully made timeless design.  Design that tells a story of its rich history as raw materials and strives for balance between elegant, simple designs with a natural carefree delicate and wild beauty.

PRECIOUS METALS

Bee Lavish designs use Recycled  precious metals and is a Registered Fairtrade Goldsmith, both of which come from a reputable UK bullion supplier.  As part of ethical sourcing recycled precious metals are fully traceable, are supplied to Bee Lavish with a guarantee and are fully equal in quality to non recycled precious metal.  Fairtrade Gold is the world's first independent ethical certification system for gold.  It has strict standards including working conditions and the protection of the environment.  Small scale and artisanal miners are paid fairly to provide financial security and receive additional funds to invest in their business, family and communities.  Fairtrade Gold is sourced responsibly and is fully traceable.  As good practise and part of being sustainable, Bee Lavish collects any leftover precious metal from designs, melting them down into new projects.

PORCELAIN

Porcelain clay used by Bee Lavish is of the finest natural quality, is sourced here in the UK, and is genuine natural kiln fired porcelain.  Mineral bodies in ceramic clays are natural, abundant and sourced from the earth, they create products that with care can last several lifetimes.  Unused or dried out out clay can be reclaimed and re-used, and although it takes a very very long time, porcelain is ultimately biodegradable.  Bee Lavish does not use any toxic glazes or finishes on designs, instead preferring to let the natural beauty and translucency of raw porcelain shine through, embellishing only with natural precious metals or adding alongside natural gemstones.  The kiln used is small and economical to run and is only fired in appropriate batches to minimise usage.

GEMSTONES

Bee Lavish uses a range of natural and wherever possible, ethically sourced gemstones from reputable suppliers.  Care is also taken as much as possible that gemstones are natural and untreated stones.  Whilst Bee Lavish does use natural pearls these are also sourced from reputable pearl suppliers.  A pearl is an organic gemstone formed from layers of iridescent nacre and whilst not all oyster farmers are the same, some do follow a strict and more sustainable way to produce pearls.  The oysters they grow are of great value to the eco system, purifying water and attracting sea life to feed on and clean their shells.  If however, you do not like the use of natural pearl in jewellery or adornments, then this can be customised for you.

DIAMONDS

Newly added to Bee Lavish materials are Marine Diamonds.  After searching long and hard to source ethical diamonds Bee Lavish has been accepted to trade with Ocean Diamonds.  Please click their name for details about the compelling origins and unique retrieval of these romantic and precious natural stones that capture the essence of the sea within them.  With a strong emphasis on their provenance (certificate of origin),  and the importance of connection, marine diamonds deeply connect to the whole story of your jewellery and the closeness to the sea.  Any diamonds used that are not marine diamonds are sourced from an ethical trader.  Both methods have traceability and responsibility at the core of their business and adhere to the Kimberly Process, which prevents and removes the trade of conflict diamonds.

PACKAGING

Bee Lavish packaging is always being re-assessed and improved on wherever possible with recycled, recyclable, reusable and/or natural materials ultimately being strived for.

DESIGNS

I hope the gleam of precious metals, fine natural gemstones and the ethereal finish of porcelain calls to you. My designs are all centred around blending nature's graceful forms, whimsy romantic elements and a little wild beauty, to create a story from the materials natural origins, to the maker's marks, and the chapters that your own experiences will add.
